The Killer Inside Me
Starring:
Casey Affleck.................Lou Ford
Jessica Alba....................Joyce Lakeland
Kate Hudson...................Amy Stanton
Elias Koteas....................Joe Rothman
Ned Beatty.....................Chester Conway
I had heard this was a dark, disturbing movie and it really is. The film never recieved a wide theaterical release, and has kind of flown under the radar. I'm a Casey Affleck fan, he usually delievers a solid understated performance but this one is probably the finest of his career thus far. He plays Lou Ford a 29 year old deputy sheriff of a small Texas town who hatches a plan of revenge against those who were directly associated with the death of his brother. Ford seems like a normal guy at first, but slowly we realize he's has a murderous side. We see the story through Affleck's eyes, and his narration. With his world slowly descending deeper into madness his unflinching calm leaves you with chills. While his actions will leave you speechless.

This movie is obviously not for everyone. While the violence isn't constant or gory it is disturbing in it's realism. There are a few moments where it's hard to watch. The movie also isn't always clear with what exactly is happening. Since we follow the narrative through the eyes of a physopath the storyline gets a little murky at times and the film could defiantly take a few viewings to fully grasp what exactly went down. Perhaps a little in the vain of "American Physco." So if your looking for the normal paint by the numbers thriller this one defiantly isn't for you.

All in all it's a pretty good movie. It keeps you engrossed trying to figure out what is going on and Affleck's actions are anything but easy to predict. The supporting cast is very good as well. Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson do a fine job and characer actor Elias Koteas always delievers. Again though Affleck carries the film and had the movie been better recieved it would not have been a stretch to see him being nominated for an Oscar. The ending is up to interpretation, but there are some nifty clues and imagery used to help you draw a final conclusion.

Verdict : If you enjoy films that make you think and can handle some disturbing scenes it's defiantly worth a look. It gets our "See it" recommendation. 7.5/10.
