Young Hollywood : Who will be around in 10 Years?

At Tin Can Today we started to wonder who will be the big name stars in the next decade. Not too many things are harder to predict than success in Hollywood, but we figure we'd give it a shot. We'll take a look at a handful of stars under the age of 25, and speculate on who will be leading men and women in the year 2020 and who will be long forgotten by then. If we forgot your favorite don't be afraid to let us know. (To qualify for this list, the actor/actress has to be 24 or younger at the time of the writing.)

Shia LeBeouf

Age :  24

There seems to be a lot of "Shia Hate" out there, but you won't find any here. Although best known for his starring role in the Transformers movies Shia was memorable in Disturbia and with his supporting role in Bobby. He has a natural charisma on screen which is something that you can't teach. What we need from Shia is a serious adult starring role, which is what he has the opportunity to do in the upcoming Wall Street 2. If he holds his own next to Michael Douglass then it may go a long way to show his lasting power.

10 years from now prediction :  "A" list Leading Man

Robert Pattinson

Age : 24

While twilight fans swoon, the fact remains the movies aren't that great. Which means their staying power won't be there. Once the vampire love fad is over I doubt Pattinson will remain in high demand. The Englishman appears stif if not wooden on screen. Granted he's playing a vampire but he hasnt shown enough in his other roles to change my mind. Our best guess is he rides the Twilight thing out, does a few forgetable rom coms then rides off into the English sunset.

10 years from now prediction : "Whatever happened to that Vampire guy?"

Megan Fox

Age : 24

It seems people are already cooling on Fox. Although super attractive the young actress simply hasn't shown the acting chops to prove she can play anything other than the "hot" girl in a movie. The flop of Jonah Hex didn't help her neither. She'll hang around in the public consciousness as long as her looks hold up, and be the token hot girl. It seems she tried to take over the weird "dark" chick spot Angelina Jolie once occupied, and it just hasn't worked. Her only chance is to get out of front of the green screen and actually act.

10 years from now prediction : Not so much Angelina, more like Carmen Electra

Amanda Seyfried

Age : 24

Fox's co-star in the forgettable Jennifer's body, Seyfried looks like the more accomplished actress. With her role on Big Love she's flexed her dramactic muscles and showed her sexy side in 2010's underrated "Chloe." She seems to choose her roles carefully and has already tried to show her range, and has delievered in my mind. We think she's talented and will become an even more household name in the future.

10 years from now prediction : She'll be a top star for a while.

Michael Cera

Age : 22

We like Michael Cera we do, but unless he plays someone other than himself soon we worry about his lasting power. He plays the awkward, but lovable geek to a tee but we'd like see him take on a serious role to see if he has leading man qualities or will simply serve as the latest in a line of teen actors who got pigeon holed into a certain role then later forgotten. He could take a few notes out of Jesse Eisenbergs book, who has already shown his range of talents.

10 years from now prediction : We need to see more to know for sure,  but we are worried he won't last.

Ellen Page

Age : 23

Ellen Page jumped to super stardom with her turn as Juno in the Diablo Cody Oscar winner. She has since proven to be a talented actress with roles in "Whip It" and her recent part in "Inception" holding her own with mega stars like Leonardo Dicaprio. See has the look of a young actress who knows the kind of career she wants won't be afraid to tackle challenging roles. One of the top young women in the hollywood to watch over the next decade.

10 years from now prediction : She isn't going anywhere. Very Talented.

Anton Yelchin

Age : 21

A definite Tin Can favorite Yelchin has a very bright future in our view, the kid can act. His part in the heart wrenching and underrated "Alpha Dog" was very memorable, then turned 180 degrees from that character to tackle the title role of "Charlie Bartlett". With "Star Trek" and "Terminator Salvation" Anton is also no stranger to the blockbuster genre. We can envision a James Franco type career, where no roles are off limits.

10 years from now prediction : If we could buy stock, we would.

Taylor Lautner

Age : 18

Almost hard to watch at this point in his career, unless he takes some acting lessons and actually improves he'll be forgotten soon after the Twilight series wraps. His best hope might be to get into action movies where he can keep his shirt off and not have to worry about impressing anyone with his abilties. I'd be suprised if he's still relevant a decade from now.

10 years from now prediction : Um, A dating show on VH1 maybe?

Kristen Stewart

Age : 20

The one young "Twilight" actor who we think has a chance to stay relevant after that series is over. While she may not set on the screen on fire in those films,  she more than holds her own in 'The Runaways" and the clever "Adventureland". She has a certain look and appeal which I think helps her to stand out. Her screen presence isn't quite there yet but with the right roles she could carve out a nice career. Not as talented as Seyfried or Page in our book, but good enough to stay relevant.

10 years from now prediction : Maybe not "A" List, but solid actress

Zac Efron

Age : 22

I don't want to lose my man card, but Efron is a pretty talented guy. He's a solid actor already and his pretty boy good looks don't hurt him. His recent release "Charlie St. Cloud" has been panned by critics, and seems to have flopped at the Box Office, but his performance has been hailed as pretty good. His problem is he has yet to branch out and not play the good guy in a family movie. I've been reading comparisons to the career arc that Leo Dicaprio had, however Leo stepped out early and played gritty roles like "Basketball Diaries". If Efron has the guts to break from his fan base and play a juicy role maybe he can prove his lasting power

10 years from now prediction : Has the ability, but needs to take chances to stay relevant

Daniel Radcliffe

Age : 21

Mr. Potter himself, Daniel has been in the public eye as the lead in the most successful film series in history for most of the last decade. The question is how can he ever top it? With most of his childhood wrapped up in Hogwarts will he find he needs a break like his co star Emma Watson? We foresee him continuing his stage work after Potter wraps and possibly eventually breaking out of his Wizard cloak. It'll be hard to keep his name where it is on American soil.

10 years from now prediction : Hard to follow Harry, Our guess is he will be a Stage Star.

Dakota Fanning

Age: 16

It's hard to believe shes only 16, seems like shes been around forever. Dakota has been in the spot light since she burst onto the scene as the show stealer in 2001's "I am Sam" opposite Sean Penn. Possibly the best pre-teen actress we've ever seen, can Dakota keep it going over the next decade? We won't bet against her. Her biggest problem may just be dealing with the pressures of following her stellar childhood career as she moves into adult roles. We think she needs a serious adult role to bust out of her little girl image. Talented young actress.

10 years from now prediction : Still going strong

Mia Wasikowska

Age: 20

She burst onto the scene this year with "Alice in Wonderland" and has a very Victorian age look. We expect to see her acting chops on display in the soon to be released "Jane Eyre" adaptation. Not a lot on her resume thus far but it's our guess she'll be just the latest in a long line of Austrailians to become stars in Hollywood. We think she looks a little like Gwyneth Paltrow and could be a star for years to come.

10 years from now prediction : Full blown Star.
