Happy Birthday Forest Whitaker

79 Completed Roles, 1 Oscar, Another 35 Wins, 18 Nominations

There is plenty more after the jump.

Today, Forest Whitaker turns 49. He has had one hell of a career for an actor.

Forest first went to college on a football scholarship (as is obvious to his build). He then received a scalp to USC and began studying music and opera there. From there, he received a second scholarship to the acclaimed Berkley. At Berkley, he studied acting and theater. By 21, he had made his first debut in cinema in the film, Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Forest wasn't big time until his role in The Color of Money. Following his one major scene he was able to get roles in films such as Platoon, Stakeout, and Good Morning, Vietnam. None of these were leads, but lead to his breakout role in Bird. Clint Eastwood's passion project led Forest to a Golden Globe Nomination and "Best Actor" award at Cannes Film Festival. The rest is history...

Forest went on to win 23 awards for is portrayal of Idi Amin in 'The Last King of Scotland'. Including the Oscar for 'Best Performance'.

Forest is currently married with 2 children, living in Los Angeles. He owns and operates his own production company, Spirit Dance Entertainment.

Happy Birthday Mr. Whitaker.

His latest movie was The Experiment. It co-stars Adrien Brody, in a remake of the orignal, The Experiment (2001). It was an international film and was never released widely in the states. But it will hit DVD and Blu-Ray in September. I'll be getting it for sure.
