Look forward to a weekly rundown of everything that will be premiering at theaters across the nation.
There are only 2 Nationwide releases this weekend:
Despicable Me
Universal is on the search to hammer out it's own animated flick. 'Despicable Me' looks to be the hit they've been looking for. Steve Carrel plays 'Gru'. Gru is an underground villian/theif/mastermind who has all intentions of stealing the moon. Until he finds himself wound up with a trio of orphans who he's in charge of to take care of. It looks to be a fun picture for the kids and parents alike.
Predators
It's unfortunate that 'Predators' hasn't seen the marketing that other summer action pictures have seen. Being the sequel to Predator starring the Governator, Predators will attract fans new and old. Adrien Brody leads a group of "warriors" from earth that have been sent to an Alien planet to be hunted by a merciless alien race.
Some other limited releases across the states:
The Kids Are All Right
A huge hit at Sundance, The Kids are All Right is the story of a lesbian couple who have had 2 artificially inseminated pregnancies. The children decide that they want to bring their father (Mark Ruffalo) into their life. If you don't have the chance to see this one at theaters, please go pay a dollar at RedBox to see it there. It will not be a dissappointment.
The Girl Who Played With Fire
Daniel Alfedson's acclaimed remake of the popular Stieg Larson's novel. A computer hacker, Lisbeth, and a journalist, Nyqvist, investigate a sex and drug traffiking ring. The story progresses and Lisbeth finds herself on the run and Nyqvist works to clear the air.
[Rec]2
[Rec]2 looks to be the sequel of [Rec], but only picks up 15 minutes after the first movie ended. The second chapter is the story of the swat team moving into the contained and contaminated apartment building strapped with automatic weapons and video cameras. This looks to be another 1st person-shaky camera thriller. Will it win over audiences? We'll have to see.
I see all this potential, and I see it squandered. An entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables, slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy stuff we don’t need. We’re the middle children of history, man; no purpose or place. We have no Great War, no Great Depression. Our Great War is a spiritual war. Our Great Depression is our lives.
